Lodging

You might think that the tiny island will lack accommodations.  Not so, there are an incredible number of rooms available, perhaps 300.  (The March 29th, 2006 eclipse was one of the few times the island has been fully booked.)

My recommendations are two.  For the best price on very sweet rooms, try Caretta Rooms and Apartments, http://www.kastellorizo.de/index.html.  Monika and Damien are incredibly friendly and helpful; if they are filled, they will offer suggestions.   Should you want a more upscale room, the best is the Kastellorizo Hotel, http://www.kastellorizohotel.gr/  Three or four times the price, but charming, on the quay and a nice place for an evening ouzo.

(A note for the Megisti Hotel... The best location, the best swimming spot, I'd recommend them save for one irksome thing - for three years people have complained about a swimming ladder with the rungs dangerously angled - it remains.)
